Why students use College Predictor
Built around how JoSAA actually allots NIT seats.
Category-wise, rank-accurate
OPEN uses CRL, reserved seats use category rank and PwD seats use PwD rank, exactly as JoSAA publishes them.
Home State and Other State aware
Your home state decides which quota applies at every NIT, including the Goa, J&K and Ladakh quotas.
Female-only and PwD seats
Female-only supernumerary seats and PwD seats are included, only when you are eligible.
Safe, Moderate and Dream
Every option is tagged so you can build a balanced JoSAA choice list, not just a list of cutoffs.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the predictor and JoSAA Round 5 cutoffs.
How does this JEE Main college predictor work?
You enter your JEE Main rank, category, home state and gender. The tool compares your rank with the official JoSAA 2026 Round 5 closing rank of every NIT seat you are eligible for, and tags each option as Safe, Moderate or Dream. Everything runs in your browser.
Which rank should I enter: CRL or category rank?
OPEN seats use your Common Rank List (CRL) rank. EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST seats use your category rank. PwD seats use your PwD rank. Reserved-category students should enter their category rank, and can add their CRL as well to include OPEN seats, which every category can compete for.
What do Safe, Moderate and Dream mean?
Safe: your rank is at or better than the seat's Round 5 closing rank. Moderate: your rank is up to 15% beyond the Round 5 closing rank, so the seat can still open up through withdrawals and the remaining rounds. Dream: your rank is up to 30% beyond the closing rank, and the seat is possible only if enough candidates above you leave.
Are Round 5 cutoffs the final cutoffs?
They are close to the final picture, but not exactly final. Closing ranks can still move a little in the remaining JoSAA rounds and in CSAB special rounds as seats are vacated. That is why the predictor also shows Moderate and Dream options. Keep a few of each in your choice list.
What is Home State and Other State quota at NITs?
Each NIT keeps part of its seats for candidates from its own state (Home State, HS) and the rest for candidates from other states (Other State, OS). The predictor applies the right quota automatically from your home state. Read the quota guide for details.
Which institutes are covered right now?
This version covers 32 institutes: the NITs and IIEST Shibpur, using JoSAA 2026 Round 5 opening and closing ranks for OPEN, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and their PwD seats. Where a seat is missing from our Round 5 data, its Round 1 rank is shown and marked †.
Do you store my rank or personal details?
No. The prediction runs on your device. Your last inputs can be remembered in your own browser so you do not have to retype them, and you can clear them with the Reset button.
Can I rely on the prediction for admission?
No prediction is a guarantee. Seat availability, rank lists and rules can change between rounds. Always confirm on the official JoSAA website before filling your choices.
